For testing you'll need:
- Router: A ZipKey hotspot (configure your own here)
- Device: Your device with the WCM installed and configured.
- App or Emulator: An interface to run through the whole process.
Before you start, you'll need valid credentials for your device. You can define your device type and your device id and secret in the Management Center.
Test 1: Emulator
First you should run through the emulator, and see the whole process work with the emulated device and app. You'll need the secret you recorded when you registered the device (if you forgot to copy it, you can register a new device or delete the device and re-register it). In the emulator screen, enter the device id and secret, and click Validate. This will confirm that you have entered a valid id and secret. Now you're ready to emulate your device. Just click on the power button (on the lower right hand side of the emulator screen). Messages will appear in the screen that will show you the device joining the network and uploading its status to the Cirrent cloud. Now you can emulate the mobile app, by checking the 'emulate app' option on the right hand side, and clicking on 'Add a device'. Now the app emulator will upload its location, find a nearby device (your emulated device) and walk you through the steps to move the emulated device over to a private network.
Test 2: Emulated app with real device
Now let's test the emulated app with a real device. Go back to the emulator, and uncheck the "Emulate the Connected Product" box next to the device. Boot up your device with your ZipKey hotspot router turned on, and you should be able to run through the joining process. Your device should join the ZipKey network, and upload its status to the Cirrent cloud. The emulator app will find your device, and walk you through the steps to move your real device to a private network.
Test 3: Real app with real device
Now let's test out both sides together. Contact us to get access to Cirrent's Android or iOS app for testing.
